East Box Hill is proud to announce James Roche has been appointed as EBHCC Child Safety Officer

East Box Hill Cricket club is committed to ensuring that the safety of our Junior cricketers is of utmost importance at all times.

Leading on from our Child Safe Policy implemented in 2017, we are now adopting Australian Cricket's policy for Safeguarding Children and Young People. This policy ensures that our club follows best practice in the management of the East Box Hill Junior Program - allowing us to better manage those involved with our young cricketers and protect their right to enjoy their time at our club as a safe place.

Part of our adhering to this policy was to appoint a Child Safety Officer whose role it was to be the first point of contact for all safeguarding children and young people matters.

The Child Safety Officer will champion the child safety message and ensure that East Box Hill Cricket Club has adopted Australian Cricket’s Policy for Safeguarding Children and Young People and that East Box Hill implements practices and procedures in line with Australian Cricket’s Looking After Our Kids Code of Behaviour for Affiliated Associations and Clubs.

James is a lifelong East Box Hill Cricketer - having played all his junior cricket at our club and having played now all the way through our grades to compete within our First XI. This gives James a fantastic understanding of all levels of our cricket club, allowing him to be across the journey our young cricketers take from their first Junior Blast session to competing in one of our senior teams.

James is a Primary School teacher in his professional life which also gives him fantastic experience working with children and in a great position to do a fantastic role for our club as the Child Safety Officer. Look out for posters of James around the club and we encourage all our junior cricketers and parents to make themselves known to James next season.

Anyone suspecting of an incident or situation in which a child is in a compromising or abusive situation must contact the relevant authorities below. A confidential incident report form can be found in the Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy on our website.
